Auto claims

Follow these steps when your vehicle has been damaged or stolen:

  1. Contact the police.
    • Do not discuss the details of the accident with anyone but the police. Do not sign anything, discuss liability or accept fault with others involved or with witnesses.
  2. Document the incident.
    • Document the accident in writing as best you can. Note damage to the vehicles, and the weather and road conditions. If possible, take photos at the scene with your camera or cell phone, or make a diagram of the events.
  3. Exchange information.
    • Exchange names, addresses, telephone numbers, insurance company information and policy numbers with everyone involved, including any passengers or witnesses. If necessary, get the licence plate number of anyone who will not cooperate.
  4. Report your claim.
    • To report your claim during business hours, contact us. Outside of business hours, call our 24-hour emergency claims service (1-800-722-9556).

Property claims

When your home has been damaged or broken into:

  1. Contact the police or fire departement, if necessary.
  2. Record the police occurrence number, name of the detachment, and the officer's name and telephone number.
  3. Document the accident.
    • Write down what happened in as much detail as possible. Document the damage and list the items that were stolen or damaged, including (if applicable): a detailed description of the item; the make and model number; when and where the item was purchased; approximate purchase cost; proof of ownership, if possible (e.g. receipt, photo, warranty registration)
  4. Report your claim.
    • To report your claim during business hours, contact us. Outside of business hours, call our 24-hour emergency claims service (1-800-722-9556).
  • "Thanks for everything Eric. It's been a pleasure for me to deal with you for my insurance. I won't hesitate to recommend you in the future."
